Time and Service Mismatch

The number of services claimed does not match the total time units required for the fee code.

Official Description: Number of services and time stated do not correspond.

How to Fix It

Follow these steps in order to resolve the error.

  1. Identify the time-based fee code on the rejected claim (e.g., counselling, prolonged visits, certain procedures).
  2. Consult the MSP Payment Schedule to confirm the time unit definition for that specific fee code. Most are billed in 15-minute increments.
  3. Calculate the correct number of service units based on the duration recorded in the patient's chart. For example, a 45-minute service billed in 15-minute increments equals 3 units of service.
  4. Adjust the 'Number of Services' field in your claim submission to match the calculated number of units. Do not simply enter '1'.
  5. Ensure the start and end times on the claim accurately reflect the total duration.
  6. Resubmit the corrected claim to Teleplan.
