Newborn Claim Incorrect PHN

The newborn claim was submitted under the father's PHN, but MSP requires using the mother's PHN.

Official Description: Dependent 66 - PHN submitted is registered to male. Please resubmit using mother’s PHN and dependent 66.

How to Fix It

Follow these steps in order to resolve the error.

  1. Identify the Correct PHN: This rejection means the newborn claim (Dependent 66) was incorrectly billed under the father's PHN. Locate the biological mother's Personal Health Number in the patient's family file.
  2. Correct the Claim Details: Open the rejected claim in your billing software. Replace the father's PHN with the mother's PHN and ensure the 'Dependent Number' field is set to '66'.
  3. Resubmit the Claim: Save the corrected claim and resubmit it to the Teleplan Data Centre.
  4. If Mother's PHN is Unavailable: If you cannot find the mother's PHN in your records, contact the patient's family. If you still cannot obtain it, contact the Teleplan Service Desk at 604-683-7151 for assistance.
