Invalid Tray Fee

A tray fee was billed for a service performed in a hospital or other ministry-funded facility.

How to Fix It

Follow these steps in order to resolve the error.

  1. Verify the 'Facility Number' and 'Location of Service' on the claim. Tray fees (e.g., 00099) are only payable for procedures performed in a private physician's office.
  2. If the service was performed in a hospital (in-patient, out-patient, ER) or another ministry-funded centre, the facility provides the supplies. You cannot bill a tray fee.
  3. To fix the claim, remove the tray fee item and resubmit the claim with only the applicable service fees.
  4. If the service was performed in a private office, ensure the Facility Number on the claim is '0000' and resubmit. An incorrect facility number is the most common cause of this rejection.
  5. If you have confirmed the service was in a private office and the claim continues to be rejected, contact the Teleplan Data Centre at 604-683-7151 to investigate the discrepancy.
