How to Fix It

Follow these steps in order to resolve the error.

  1. This is a financial penalty, not a claim rejection. The amount has been deducted from your current payment.
  2. Identify the original WorkSafeBC claim this penalty refers to. Check your remittance for patient details or the original claim number.
  3. Review the patient's chart and the original claim to determine which report (e.g., Form 8, Form 11, specialist report) was required but not submitted.
  4. If the report is still outstanding, submit it to WorkSafeBC immediately via their provider portal to ensure compliance, even if the penalty is not reversible.
  5. If you believe the penalty was applied in error (e.g., the report was sent on time), you must appeal directly to WorkSafeBC. Contact WorkSafeBC Payment Services at 1-888-922-3737.
  6. Update your internal office procedures to ensure all future WorkSafeBC reporting deadlines are met to avoid further penalties.
